Since Governor Newsome’s first stay-at-home order on March 19, 2020, many Californians have adapted to staying at home. Because life continues on, even amidst a pandemic, it may be the case that you change zip codes, cities, or states. Whether you are moving because of a new job, your school shutting down in-person classes, or financial reasons, doing so safely is of the utmost importance to your health and the health of others. To protect you and the ones you love, we have put together three tips on moving safely during a pandemic.
Moving is a lengthy process that requires hours of planning. Moving during a pandemic is even more complicated. It is best to plan early before making your big move.
Understand that supplies may not be in stock, your favorite moving company may be booked, and moving truck rental agencies may have limited inventory. By making reservations early, you save yourself from unnecessary stress, effort, and time.
If your move requires that you fly, choose an airline and familiarize yourself with their cancellation and COVID-19 policies. The more research you do, the better prepared and more confident you will feel!
During your move, adhere to all social distancing guidelines. Regardless of your relationship with your helpers, ensure that every individual is wearing a mask and staying six feet apart. If you hire professional movers, greet them with a smile (not a handshake) and keep an appropriate amount of distance between you and them.
If you are on the road while moving, use precautions during bathroom and meal breaks. If you are flying, wear the appropriate gear. Some airlines do not accept face shields, face coverings made out of mesh or lace, or face coverings with exhaust valves.
Sanitize Your New Home
Moving is tiring, so it’s safe to say that once you’ve unloaded all your boxes from the truck to your home, the last thing you will want to do is clean; however, we suggest buying COVID-19 disinfectants and wiping down your new space to be extra safe!
At Sundial Apartment Homes, your health and safety are our priorities. Before a new resident moves in, we take all necessary safety measures to sanitize their new home. Our 24-hour maintenance team is specially trained to clean according to CDC standards. Every nook and cranny is disinfected, including all high-traffic areas such as doorknobs, microwave buttons, walls, light switches, and bathroom fixtures. You can find comfort in knowing that your apartment is scrubbed, polished, and spotless in preparation for your arrival.
Moving during a pandemic may seem scary and dauntless, but it doesn’t have to be! By planning early, social distancing, and sanitizing your new home, you can feel safe throughout the moving process. You’ve got this!
