4 Apps to Help You Track Your Water Intake

With Sunset Beach just 20 minutes down the road from our Sundial Apartment Homes, the ocean is never very far from the minds of our VIPs. Watching the waves can give us a sense of peace and help us to clear our minds.

Water is essential to life. In fact, the human body is made up of up to 60 percent water. Men need to be drinking a minimum of three liters of liquid per day, and women should drink nine cups per day . Are you drinking enough water? If not, here are four apps to help you give your body what it needs.

1. WaterMinder

This highly-rated app is available on both iPhone and Android . It provides a simple user experience that will help you set a personal hydration goal based on your own body weight. It will then send you reminders throughout the day to help you stay on track. As you log your water intake, you can use the app to view your history and gauge how you’re progressing.

2. Plant Nanny

If you’d like to have a little bit more fun tracking your hydration, then Plant Nanny might be the app for you. iOS and Android users get the chance to play nanny to a variety of cute little plants. Choose fun flower pots for your plants and unlock new pots and plants as you track your water intake. As you get busy helping your little plants grow, you might find yourself looking for excuses to drink more water!

3. My Water

This app helps you track and balance all of the fluids you drink. This is especially useful for those of us who tend to drink a variety of beverages beyond water (coffee, tea, sports drinks, etc.). It also offers reminders, statistics/graphs, motivational awards, and useful tips about water. Check it out on the App Store or Google Play .

4. MyFitnessPal

If you like to keep a closer eye on what you drink and eat overall, then MyFitnessPal is a great bet. To date, it’s received over one million ratings on the App Store and has an overall score of 4.7 (out of 5). Among the various features available for free is a hydration tracking system. It also allows you to track exercise and your weight. Whether you’re new to fitness or are a full-fledged fanatic, MyFitnessPal could be the buddy you’ve been looking for. Also available on Google Play .

Water is key to all elements of human health. Even if you feel like you’ve been getting enough, it never hurts to double-check that you’re drinking sufficient amounts. Whether you choose WaterMinder, Plant Nanny, My Water, MyFitnessPal, or another app entirely, your body is sure to thank you for the added hydration.
